Team Overview:

The Uniqlo US Finance team contributes to growing the business through forecasting and budgeting financial performance, by providing proactive and meaningful financial analysis to Uniqlo US senior management and global senior management, and by guiding and influencing all operating teams to help achieve company goals. In addition, the Finance team assists in highlighting business opportunities and risks to senior management.


Key responsibilities:

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Create seasnal and monthly sales and inventory budgets by product category, leveraging Merchandising leadership insights, historical sales trend data, and marketing calendar / product initiatives
    • Analyze and assess the sales perfrmance of all product categories; revise forecasts to maximize sales, profitability, and ending inventory balances
    • Identify inventry risks and sales opportunities by product category
    • Ensure US reginal merchandising plans align with overall buy plan
    • At multiple regular fiscal intervals, recap and analyze histrical data to plan and forecast total, brick-and-mortar and digital business performance
    • Assist in building budgets and varius financial models at both consolidated and store levels


  • Collaboration
    • On a mnthly basis, share product category results and recommendations with Merchandising leaders and senior leadership, as well as Japan headquarters, to help achieve financial targets
    • On a weekly basis, share demand frecasts with store and e-commerce Logistics and Store leadership
    • Wrk regularly with Tokyo-based team members to share US and global trends and best practices
    • Wrk with US regional team to manage data across the business


  • Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly reporting:
    • Prepare/manage the timely issuance f monthly financial report packages for U.S. and global management review
    • Present financial plans, frecasts and strategies in key meetings
    • Supprt monthly Accounting team close activities
    • Develp information tools/management reporting on key operating activities
    • Assist in the preparatin of board presentation materials
    • Cnduct daily, monthly, quarterly, and seasonal sales reporting


  • Adhoc Analysis:
    • Run reprts and queries data using company’s financial software data warehouse interfaces to collect information for financial planning
    • Analyze special prjects to determine business financial benefits and impacts
    • Mnitor the impact of omni-channel sales, marketing, and promotional activities on sales and inventory across channels
    • Run ad-hc sales analyses for senior management and for Board meeting
    • Assist FP&A manager t identify opportunities to lower costs and engage with business owners to achieve results.



  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Demonstrated FP&A experience at the corporate or business unit level
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting and analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a merchandise planning role, which is strongly preferred, or a financial analytical role
  • Retail industry experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel modeling
  • Ability to develop point-of-view based on data / analytics
  • Ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy utilizing strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-cultural, fast paced environment
  • Flexible, team oriented, collaborative work style and a positive attitude
  • Proactive individual that can build effective relationships with business managers and staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
  • including intricacies of open to buy, inventory turnover and gross margin
  • Strong retail math skills including intricacies of open to buy and margin management, with an understanding of retail planning software and inventory management
  • Willingness to live and train in Tokyo headquarters for first two months of tenure
  • Ideally, familiarity with building Excel macros and writing SQL to extract data
